چکیده

We extend the direct sampling method proposed in [13] to image a wavepenetrable inhomogeneous medium in a 3D waveguide. Incidences and receivers are available only on part of the surface of a cylinder. The proposed method is basically direct and does not involve any matrix inversions or optimizations, thus computationally very cheap and efficient. Numerical simulations are presented to show the feasibility and effectiveness of the method for acoustic detection in a 3D waveguide. The method is applicable with a few scattered fields corresponding to only one or two incident waves, and is very robust against noise.

Application of Boundary Element Method to 3 D Submerged Structures With Open Ends (RESEARCH NOTE)

This paper presents a three dimensional application of direct Boundary-Element Method (BEM) for computing interaction of sinusoidal waves with a large submerged open bottom structure near the floor with finite depth. The wave diffraction problem is formulated within the framework of linearized potential theory and solved numerically with direct BEM. A computer program based on BEM is developed ...

Factorization Method for Electromagnetic Inverse Scattering from Biperiodic Structures

We investigate the Factorization method as an analytical as well as a numerical tool to solve inverse electromagnetic wave scattering problems from penetrable biperiodic structures in three dimensions. This method constructs a simple criterion whether a given point in space lies inside or outside the penetrable biperiodic structure, yielding a fast imaging algorithm. The required data consists ...

Generation of internal tides in an ocean of finite depth: analytical and numerical calculations

Mixing in the abyssal ocean is known to play an important role in controlling the large-scale ocean circulation. In the search for sources of mechanical energy for mixing, internal tides generated by the interaction of the barotropic tide with bottom topography (mode conversion) have been implicated. However, estimates of the rate at which barotropic tidal energy is converted into the internal ...

Solution of Wave Equations Near Seawalls by Finite Element Method

A 2D finite element model for the solution of wave equations is developed. The fluid is considered as incompressible and irrotational. This is a difficult mathematical problem to solve numerically as well as analytically because the condition of the dynamic boundary (Bernoulli’s equation) on the free surface is not fixed and varies with time. The finite element technique is applied to solve non...
